Technical Expertise That Goes Beyond the Jobsite

Heavy traffic, exposure to the elements, and the changing climate can inflict serious damage on sewer and drainage pipes over time. Flotech Environmental offers pipe stabilizing solutions to repair from the inside, including pressure grouting and joint sealing. Across all of our regions, root intrusion, storm damage, and saltwater corrosion can all lead to cracked or fractured pipes. We specialize in pipe rehabilitation without excavation.  Grout is injected at controlled high pressure through a packer set at each leaking joint, sealing the joint and filling voids in the surrounding soil.

What Is Pressure Grouting?

Pressure grouting plays a critical role in pipe stability and rehabilitation. Generally, this process involves injecting grout into gaps or cracks to improve the structural integrity of a pipe, structure, or culvert.

Pressure Grouting for Storm Pipe Rehabilitation

Chemical grout injection is one form of pressure grouting that can stop leaks, seal cracks, and restore the strength of cracked pipes. This method is highly effective for treating infiltration at the joints or cracks in concrete pipes and structures, making it a useful way to rehabilitate damaged infrastructure after a storm. In Florida, unpredictable rainfall and seasonal storms can do a number on our infrastructure, especially our wastewater collection systems.

Flotech Environmental offers a number of sanitary and storm sewer rehabilitation services, which include trenchless chemical grout injection and soil stabilization services after the pipe is repaired.

Soil Stabilization Post-Pipe Repair

In Florida, the presence of sandy soils and highly porous rock makes depressions or sinkholes a common occurrence.  If not mitigated properly, sinkholes pose a serious safety threat, not to mention the property damage that can occur. That’s why Flotech Environmental offers sinkhole stabilization.

By injecting cementitious grout deep into the soil at the site of instability, we can create a stronger, more stable foundation without the need for intense excavation and surface disruption.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Pressure Grouting

Here are some of the most common questions about our services, response times, and how we support infrastructure projects across Florida.

The pressure grouting, or compaction grouting, techniques we use are minimally disruptive. The equipment we use is precise and only touches the problem zones.

The most common types of sealant for expansion joints are polyurethane or silicone-based sealants. Both types are UV-resistant and won’t crack or bubble.

Pressure grouting fits pipes and structures that are still structurally serviceable but leak at joints or cracks, or that have lost soil support around them. It stops infiltration and fills gaps behind the pipe wall. Pipes with severe structural damage usually need lining or replacement in addition to, or instead of, grouting.

Grout is injected into the gap or crack and into the surrounding soil, where it reacts and sets to form a seal that blocks water. Flotech uses chemical grout injection to stop leaks and seal cracks in concrete pipes and structures.

Ask which diameters can be sealed remotely from inside the pipe and which need man-entry, since larger storm pipes and structures are often grouted by hand. Also ask how flow is managed during the work.

Service life depends on the grout material, the groundwater conditions and how much the pipe continues to move. Owners typically verify results with a follow-up CCTV inspection or joint test and recheck the line on their regular inspection cycle.
